we're a family-owned and operated business, passionate about sharing the wonders of the universe with families and stargazing enthusiasts alike. Our journey began with a spark of curiosity, ignited by a love for the night sky and a dream to share it with others.

Luca developed a fascination with the universe, sparked by memories of walking on the beach with his dad, learning about constellations and the magic of the universe. This early fascination led him to pursue a career in astronomy, with a detour into culinary arts along the way. He joined Dark Sky Project in Lake Tekapo in 2019, becoming an Astronomy Guide at the world-renowned University of Canterbury Mt John Observatory.

we founded Akaroa Stargazing in February 2022. Our son Eros was born in July 2022, and he's been our biggest inspiration ever since. You might even spot him wandering around our shop, flying into space in our cardboard rocket.
